In Kijabe there is a strange, yet beautiful insect which flies in from time to time, usually during the rainy season. This is a common locust. These creatures are the subjects of endless torture by kids and cats. There are kids, mainly boys, who have been known to insert both legs into the 220 outlet to watch the poor insect fly across the room with sparks following. I think they are quite eatable afterwards. The cats of course find them a tasty meal. When these locusts fly they show a very colorful display on their wings.
