You might think that this should be flora, but if you look closely you will see a honey bee on this sunflower. Honey has been an important traditional food for several tribes inKenya, among them the Dorobo, and the Awere / Boni. In the early days these tribes hunted for wild honey, but more recently they have built hives and used special techniques to attract the bees to the hives. This bee I photographed in a field of sunflowers which sit next to several bee hives. I don’t know if this is true, but the African honey bee is said to be more aggressive when aroused than the American variety. At any rate, I will let the locals harvest the honey.
