Honey bees

You might think that this should be flora, but if you look closely you will see a honey bee on this sunflower.  Honey has been an important traditional food for several tribes inKenya, among them the Dorobo, and the Awere / Boni.  In the early days these tribes hunted for wild honey, but more recently they have built hives and used special techniques to attract the bees to the hives.  This bee I photographed in a field of sunflowers which sit next to several bee hives.  I don’t know if this is true, but the African honey bee is said to be more aggressive when aroused than the American variety.  At any rate, I will let the locals harvest the honey.
