Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,
Do you ever sit down and wonder about your life? What am I doing? Is it making a difference? Is God pleased with me? As another year comes to a close, and a new one begins, it is easy to reflect on such questions. While reflecting, I was reminded of a Facebook message that we received a short time ago from parents of a students here. They are serving in a remote part of Mozambique, and have had many challenges with their children and really questioned whether RVA would be the right place for their middle son. This message seemed a bit out of the blue, but read in part:
”I want to thank you for the ways you are a blessing to our son. At the beginning of the school year, he wrote that it was a blessing to have friends that are good at things that are difficult for him, and then he put in parentheses (Mr and Mrs Tilly). Thank you. Thank you.”
Life is not always easy, and certainly there are times when we question our sanity in choosing such a challenging career, but when we realize that God is using us in some small way to influence the next generation, and to make the work of missions easier for this generation, we are reminded that the challenges are worth it.
The new year is upon us, and we will have many more challenges to come. This year we will finish our sponsoring of the Class of 2019, graduate our youngest child, and spend six month in the USA on home assignment. It will be a busy year, but as we look ahead, we trust that God will once again be faithful.
By the way, we have produced a short 4 minute video about our work here. Click the link below if you would like to watch it:
- Pray for our children. Elizabeth is in her first year with Missionaire and would love your prayers during this time of transition. Abby continues in her Junior year at The King’s College, and Karissa is deep into the college application process.
- Pray for our finances. We have received word that our health insurance costs will be rising substantially this year. Pray that God would provide and that we would trust Him.
- Praise the Lord for ways in which He has used us here to touch the lives of the children we minister to.
Here are a few pictures from our December break:
