Every year in mid-October, RVA brings a pastor and music team in to conduct Spiritual Emphasis Week. This year Dave Griffin lead the services and the impact on our student body was huge. The topic was “Surrender”, and we heard so many comments from students about drawing closer to God through these services. Of course, being a youth pastor, Dave was also a very fun loving guy and really drew the kids in.
Another great tradition of RVA is Multicultural Day when we celebrate the many cultures represented at our school. This year we recognized 30 different passport countries, and our own daughter, Abby, was privileged to help bear the U.S. flag with several others, an honor that goes only to the students who have been at RVA the longest from that country. The day is filled with many games and team competitions, many of which have nationalistic themes. Meredith led a game where kids had to smell Indian spices and match them with their name.
- Abby is finalizing college applications at 12 different schools. Please pray for God’s direction in this process.
- Elizabeth continues in her second year at Sewanee, but is now making application with MissionAire, an organization that trains missionary pilots. Please pray for God’s direction in this.
- Praise!!! We are finally in the process of selling our house in Mississippi. This has been a real burden on us for some time.
- Next summer we will return to the USA for a one year home assignment. Please pray for us as we begin trying to work out the details of this.
